Exercise helps aid the fight against obesity
Exercise is a great topic to discuss with almost anybody these days. There is so much to be said about exercise and so little room. I will tell you how to stay healthy and happy with a daily dose of exercise.
There are many factors which contribute to developing obesity. Hereditary history, psychological disposition, treatment for other conditions that can sometimes cause massive weight gain, poor eating habits, stress, plus many more. All of the factors that I listed contributes in their own separate ways to becoming obese.
However the two largest factors that I know of are … We live in a world of fast food restaurants. These restaurants are attacking us through all five senses; smell, taste, sight, touch, and hearing. They are brainwashing us by use of ads, marketing campaigns, encouraging use to “super-size” any meal that we order. Studies show that the good majority of the more popular fast food chains use chemical flavoring that encourages people to buy more and eat more to satisfy their crave for the taste of their food. Most of the fast food meals that we consume contain high amounts of toxins, chemical preservatives, and lack the nutritional value in which the body needs in order to function properly.
The other factor which can be highly harmful to the body is that the active levels of the mass majority of humans; especially Americans has decreased to an all time dangerous low. Well, with computers, big screen color TV’s, videogames, internet, etc. why would kids want be outside playing sports or working when they can have fun inside sitting on their butt. We have grown into a sedentary generation of workers. Things we used to go out to do, such as shopping, or socializing can now be performed by pressing a few buttons with your fingertips. Technology in the workforce is eliminating a lot of the “back-breaking” jobs, or at least making most jobs much easier to perform (don’t get me wrong, I am thrilled that we are making these technological advances). If you combine all of that with poor diets, stress from daily life, etc. you are at great risk for gaining weight.
Many people eat do to boredom, sadness, and or anger. Many illnesses can lead to obesity. Such as: Hypothyroidism, Cushing’s syndrome, depression, and certain neurological problems that either slow down the metabolism or cause you to overeat.
Dangers of Being Obese
Now that you have a good idea at what causes obesity, lets take a look at the dangers of being obese.
Approximately 300,000 adults die in the U.S.A due to an obesity related cause. Several serious medical conditions have been linked to obesity, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. Obesity is also linked to certain types of cancer. Obese men are much more likely than non-obese men to die from cancer of the colon, rectum, and or prostate. Obese women are more likely than non-obese women to die from cancer of the gallbladder, breast uterus, cervix, and or ovaries.
Other diseases and health problems linked to obesity are:
- Diabetes
- Gallbladder and gallstones disease
- Liver disease
- Osteoarthritis (disease in which the joints deteriorate)
- Gout (another disease affecting the joints)
- Pulmonary (breathing) problems
- Reproductive problems in women
The solution:
Aside from the ads you see or hear about; “Just take this pill twice a day to shed off pounds a day”. There are two natural and safe ways to lose weight. Exercise and a proper diet both prove to be highly probable factors when coming to losing all that unwanted belly bulge.
A proper meal plan is the # 1 factor is a weight loss plan, but a good exercise program will drastically maximize your results, not to mention your overall physical feeling. Muscles need energy in order to work. Calories are transformed into energy. The harder you work your muscles the more calories you will burn up. A full cardio workout can burn anywhere from 1-5 hundred calories depending on your ability with the machines. The body continues to burn calories hours after one has completed an exercise workout. The more muscle one has, the more energy they need in order to exercise.
If you are pressed on time or are too lazy to come into the gym on a daily basis there are a few different workout plans that you will find to be very on point and short. Brisk walks daily before/after meals, in the morning etc.. Static concentration training is very affective for a few reasons. The avg. time span of a static workout can be anywhere from 25-45 minutes. Strength training is one of the more effective ways to increase physical activity levels for 2 reasons. Strength training helps you burn more calories both by the physical exertion necessary for the exercise, & because of the fact that lean muscle mass burns more calories, even if you are resting.
