Why you should hire a personal trainer to help you achieve your fitness goals.

If you have made the decision to get back into shape after a long layoff you need to decide if your going to go it alone, or hire a professional personal trainer. A personal trainer is one who educates people about physical fitness, and if qualified may offer nutrition guidance. Persoanl trainers design functional training programs to help their clients in daily acitivites, hobbies or to help correct postural imbalances.

Personal trainers will help individuals alter their body mass (fat loss) educate their clients on proper form, offer motivation and constructive criticism at times. Trainers can help individuals in areas such as: athletic performance, speed, agility and quickness, increase in muscular strength and endurance training. If qualifed, individuals leaving physical therapy can continue that therapy with a competent, trained and experienced trainer.

Some other benefits of a personal trainer are the accountability factor. Knowing that you have paid good money to a trainer is great motivation to most to show up and work out. Having a trainer also helps to take away the boredom of training alone. You will also increase your knowledge of physical fitness and be able to maintain your healty lifestyle once finished with your trainer.

Personal trainers have different ways of motivating their clients. Some are the "drill sergeant" others are more mellow and laid back. It is important to get with a qualified trainer that best matches your personality and needs. The time you spend with a trainer will depend on your goals and budget. If you have a substantial amount of weight to lose you may want to spend 90 days to develop the habits necessary to be successful long term. Others may meet for one session to have a program designed and have questions answered.

It is important the the individual you choose is certified with a reputable agency, school, etc. They should have insurance, a valid CPR card and a certification from an agency that has their tests proctored. In the USA certain personal trainer certifications are accredited by the NCAA, The Council for Higher Education Accreditation, and the US Department of Education.

A qualified trainer will run you through a health screen to ensure that your ready for any type of exercise. At this point if it is determined that you are ready to train, typically body measurements will be taken, or callipers will be used. Strength and flexibility tests will be administered as well as identifying any postural dysfunction, or muscle imbalances. After all this has taken place the trainer now has enough information to prepare a proper training program.

The bottom line is if you want to increase your chances of achieving your health and fitness goals, hiring a personal trainer is the best thing you can do. It will save you money in the long run and help to imporve the quality of your life.
